Red Kite 2021 will be available in September 2022 but only 400 bottles have been made. So if you enjoyed the 2018 vintage do consider ordering in advance.
Red Kite 2018 was a very exciting new sparkling red wine on limited release from Chet Valley Vineyard. With an explosive bouquet of secondary fermentation evidenced on the mousse. The wine had great bubbles, aromas of cranberry and cherry, light tannins and a good length. This wine goes very well with Poultry and game. A great fun filled celebratory wine. The 2018 vintage of Red Kite was commended by IWC in 2021.

Lovely afternoon touring and learning about the vineyards and tasting the wines with locally produced nibbles. John is an excellent host and passes on technical information easily. A delightful way to celebrate a 60th birthday with a family group and even better being able to cycle through beautiful lanes in the sun to get there .

We had a wonderful day at Chet Valley! We hired the venue for a family party and enjoyed food and wine on the balcony overlooking the beautiful vineyard scenery. We particularly enjoyed the Horatio Rose Brut which was very refreshing on a hot summers day. We had an excellent tour of the vineyard with the owner, John who was very knowledgeable about not only the vines and the wine but also the local area and all things nature related. He was also very good with the children in our party. I’d highly recommend Chet Valley Wine and also Chet Valley as a venue to hire.

Don't be deceived by the sunny photo below! A friend and I joined a Chet Valley vineyard tour earlier this year, and despite pandemic restrictions and a torrential downpour that even included hail at one point, John managed to pull off an engaging and fun event. It would appear nothing can dampen his enthusiasm. 😉 Chet Valley has a surprisingly wide range of wines of good quality. So if you are in or around Norfolk - or want an excuse to be - I highly recommend paying them a visit. (Warning: you will probably want to purchase a few bottles too...)
