Our Estate is an idyllic spot for a picnic and we’re only too happy to oblige. We’ll pack up a rustic picnic basket with local Norfolk produce including cheese, charcuterie, freshly baked bread, and other delicious nibbles, topped off with a perfectly chilled bottle of Chet Valley Wine. Then you just need to choose your spot – a cosy table in the winery or on our balcony overlooking the vines. If you’d rather go free range, you can bring a picnic rug and head out into the vineyard for lunch. Baskets are prepared for two people. Please note that there may be some variation from the image shown on our website and changes in the contents of the picnic due to seasonal alterations in availability of items.

Read before booking:
Tours are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays in season, from the beginning of April, until harvest time in October.
On Saturdays, tastings start at 11am or 3pm. If you have ordered a picnic, we recommend that you undertake the morning tasting before lunch, so as to gain the full benefit of both the wine and the cuisine: the taste of the wine may be influenced by the flavours you experience at lunch. If you do book an afternoon tasting on a Saturday with your picnic, please aim to arrive from 1.30pm onwards.
John is happy to welcome hen parties to his winery by arrangement.
Dietary requirements can be catered for upon request, just let us know in the booking comments.
Locally Sourced Menu
Chet Valley’s luxury picnic menu features mainly locally sourced food options, including charcuterie, ham, cheese, freshly baked bread, hand made salads and strawberries and cream. A fish and also a vegetarian option is available on request.
Of course, our baskets wouldn’t be complete without a chilled bottle of our own artisan award-winning wine.

Lovely afternoon touring and learning about the vineyards and tasting the wines with locally produced nibbles. John is an excellent host and passes on technical information easily. A delightful way to celebrate a 60th birthday with a family group and even better being able to cycle through beautiful lanes in the sun to get there .

We had a wonderful day at Chet Valley! We hired the venue for a family party and enjoyed food and wine on the balcony overlooking the beautiful vineyard scenery. We particularly enjoyed the Horatio Rose Brut which was very refreshing on a hot summers day. We had an excellent tour of the vineyard with the owner, John who was very knowledgeable about not only the vines and the wine but also the local area and all things nature related. He was also very good with the children in our party. I’d highly recommend Chet Valley Wine and also Chet Valley as a venue to hire.

Don't be deceived by the sunny photo below! A friend and I joined a Chet Valley vineyard tour earlier this year, and despite pandemic restrictions and a torrential downpour that even included hail at one point, John managed to pull off an engaging and fun event. It would appear nothing can dampen his enthusiasm. 😉 Chet Valley has a surprisingly wide range of wines of good quality. So if you are in or around Norfolk - or want an excuse to be - I highly recommend paying them a visit. (Warning: you will probably want to purchase a few bottles too...)
